Economic Development
In recent months due to the current financial climate the government has been implementing many different schemes to try and promote economic development. Many towns and deprived areas that are suffering from the increased rate of unemployment and the high proportion of businesses shutting down are being given extra funds by the government in an attempt to boost economic development in the region and try to bring some new businesses and industries to these areas. However, many people have argued that simply pouring money into a deprived region is no way to boost the economic development in the area and other course of action must be taken too, especially in those areas that are particularly deprived.
However, despite the recession being constantly reported in the media the economic development in some areas of the country is in full swing and there are many regions that are benefitting with new companies in a number of different industries being regularly established.
The government has put many measures in place to ensure that economic development and growth can continue once the worst of the recession has passed, however many critics have claimed that these measures are not appropriate and in some cases may actually be worse for economic development in the long run. Despite this the current global financial situation has prompted the government to take any action that it is able to promote economic development in the UK.
